The Basement is owned and managed by The Oxford Trust. The Oxford Trust is an independent charitable trust that was founded in 1985 by entrepreneurs Sir Martin and Audrey, Lady Wood. Our mission is to encourage the pursuit of science and enterprise. We run a variety of unique programmes across the key areas: enterprise, engagement and education. Science Oxford is the public-facing part of the Trust.

The Science Oxford Discovery Zone – a dedicated space for schools outreach and weekend science clubs that is run by Science Oxford, the public-facing part of The Oxford Trust.

Oxford Hackspace – an independent space that meets the needs of the city’s diverse, creative and talented maker community and those starting out on their entrepreneurial journey. Professional technicians are available to help with prototyping requests from individuals and businesses ranging from 3D models to PCB design and manufacture.
The space is equipped with high-tech laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC mill, numerous tools for electronic component creation plus sewing machines and much more.

THE BASEMENT is located at the Oxford Centre for Innovation (OCFI) on New Road – just next to Oxford Castle and opposite Nuffield College. The OCFI is just a ten minute walk from Oxford station and there are numerous bus stops along New Road, servicing most parts of the city and local towns.
